Two friends were confronted by a group of six to eight youths - two brandishing kitchen knives - during a terrifying aggravated burglary last night in Walkley, Sheffield.

The offenders knocked at the back door of a shared property at Whitehouse Lane at 10.50pm.

It was opened by an occupant but, as he tried to close the door, the gang forced their way inside.

The culprits threatened two of the seven people in the house, before searching the property and making off with an Xbox and tobacco. Nobody was hurt.

Police, who believe the incident was targeted, have carried out door-to-door and forensic inquiries.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses - or anyone with information about the aggravated burglary - to come forward.

Anyone who can help should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 1,202 of February 27.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
