Quiz time for South Yorkshire candidates

CANDIDATES for the new role of South Yorkshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner will be having a question and answer session with members of the public at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium next week.

Around 100 seats have been booked for the event, which takes place on Thursday, at 6pm.

Organised by South Yorkshire Police Authority, the debate will be screened live online.

Members of the public are able to submit their questions in advance of the event to allow the debate to be split into key themes.

Interim Police Authority chief executive Erika Redfearn said: “We’ve been promoting the elections and Police Commissioner reform since May supported by our ThinkPCC campaign.

“We’ve attended numerous events across the county and had more than 1,200 people come and see our stall, the culmination of this project will be the event at the New York Stadium.”

A maximum of 220 guests can attend the session.

The county’s Police and Crime Commissioner will be elected on Thursday, November 15.

* To apply for a ticket in advance visit South Yorkshire Police Think PCC or call 01226 775730.

Tickets will also be available on the night on a first come first served basis.
