A probe is underway into an arson attack at a disused pub in Mexborough.
When firefighters arrived at the Highwoods on Elm Lane they found rubbish, tables and chairs in the bar area engulfed in flames.
The flames were contained to the bar but there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the detached property.
Community safety watch manager Steven Vinson, of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, said: “We want to make people aware of the dangers of fire and what arson attacks mean for fire service resources.
“If we are dealing with an arson attack in a derelict building and four engines respond it means there’s not a lot left for real emergencies where lives may be at risk.
“At a time of dwindling resources this point needs to be reaffirmed.”
He said the fire service, South Yorkshire Police and Doncaster Council were working together to identify buildings and homes at risk of fires.
