Probe into arson attack which killed two dogs in Sheffield

Detectives investigating an arson attack which killed two dogs in a Sheffield house are urging people with information to come forward.

The blaze in St Aidans Way, Norfolk Park, started in a wheelie bin outside a house and spread to the property.

Flames ripped through the ground floor of house, causing extensive damage.

A 38-year-old woman and her son and daughter, who were in the house at the time, escaped unharmed but two dogs in the property perished.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at 10.15pm on Friday, October 9.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are investigating an arson attack after a fire caused extensive damage and the death of two pet dogs at a house in Sheffield.

“It is believed that the fire started in a wheelie bin outside the house .

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
