SOME bobbies in Nottinghamshire are to work from shops and council premises instead of police stations in a bid to cut costs.
A review found some stations were poorly used by the public, expensive to maintain, and not suitable for modern policing. Nottinghamshire Police, which covers the Worksop area up to the fringes of South Yorkshire, will share premises with partner organisations in a bid to make officers more accessible.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul Scarrott said: “As a result of the estates review, we have identified some sites which are no longer value for money. We intend to close these and relocate neighbourhood officers into council buildings or shops.”
