POLICE are urging Grassmoor residents to step up their home security after four attempted burglaries were reported in one night.
The properties were targeted on Shakespeare Street during the early hours of Sunday, March 27.
Offenders tried unsuccessfully to get into all the homes by using tools to break beading around UPVC windows.
A resident heard a banging noise and saw a car drive off in the direction of Westhill Lane at around 4am.
Police have stepped up patrols in the village and crime reduction officers will be conducting security checks.
PC Richard Siddall, of Derbyshire Police, said: “We ask that everyone is security conscious and takes some simple steps to make their homes less attractive to burglars.”
