Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Sheffield have stressed sex attacks on strangers are ‘rare’.
They said they are ‘exploring all lines of enquiry’ in a bid to catch the culprit, who attacked an 18-year-old woman who had become separated from her friends on a night out in the city centre.
Police were alerted to the attack in a red car near to Fox Road, Upperthorpe, after the victim ran to a nearby house and raised the alarm.
There was a struggle between the woman and her attacker on the street before she escaped his clutches and ran off.
The rapist was around 5ft 9ins tall, in his late 20s to early 30s and was wearing a navy blue hooded jacket and cap.
Witnesses or anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 222 of October 26.
