Counterfeit clothing worth £3,665 has been seized from a stall on a South Yorkshire market.

The items, with the trade names Ugg, Jack Wills and Barbour items, were seized by police during a check on all the goods being sold on the Barnsley stall.

The stall owner has had their licence allowing them to trade on the market terminated and Barnsley Council’s Consumer Protection Department are investigating.

Steve Maddock, from the Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team, promised more action.

He said: “The new Town Centre Team, which is part of Town and Kingstone Safer Neighbourhood Team, is made up of myself, one other PC and two PCSOs.

“We are actively seen in the town centre reassuring the public and working together to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime across the town centre.”
