Two men were seriously injured in an attack in Sheffield city centre, police have revealed.

The men, aged 20 and 24, were walking along Arundel Gate with their partners after an evening at Tank nightclub when they were targeted.

South Yorkshire Police said a group of around six men approached the group and attacked the two friends close to the Novotel hotel.

The victims were admitted to hospital but have since been discharged and are recovering from their ordeal at home.

Officers have released CCTV images showing two men they are keen to speak to about the attack.

Police Constable Christian Borum, who is investigating the incident, said: “This assault took place over the Bank Holiday weekend and it was quite busy in that part of the city.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who recognises either of the men pictured, as they might hold vital information that can help us with enquiries.

“I’d also appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who might have seen the assault to get in touch.”

The attack happened at around 3.20am on Sunday, August 30.
