FOOTBALL fans who verbally abused train passengers are being hunted by police.
Officers from British Transport Police want to hear from witnesses to an incident involving a group of up to 10 Chesterfield supporters who boarded a train at Birmingham New Street and began abusing other passengers.
PC Richard Ward, of British Transport Police, said: “Verbal abuse of this nature will not be tolerated. Passengers have the right to travel without being subjected to the type of behaviour shown during this incident and we would like to hear from anyone who was on board the service who may be able to provide us with any information.
“One of the group has been described as male, medium build, 6ft tall, with brown messy hair and facial hair. He was wearing a blue coat.”
The fans were travelling on the 15.25 Plymouth to Newcastle service on April 7.
