Police officers have launched a massive search for CCTV footage to help them trace the culprits responsible for a gang attack on a Sheffield street.
Some jumped out of car to attack the victim as he walked along Staniforth Road, Darnall, while others joined in on the street.
Police said the victim was punched and kicked repeatedly and had been unable to provide detailed descriptions of those involved.
Officers are trawling through CCTV footage obtained from known cameras on Staniforth Road but are also visiting every home in the area to establish whether residents have their own private cameras, which may have captured the attack or those involved.
Police patrols have been stepped up but officers insist the attack was an ‘isolated incident’ with no similar assaults reported in the area.
“The injured party was approached by between 10 and 15 unidentified males, some of whom jumped out of a car to attack him,” said DC Vicky Alcock.
“He had been out in the local area, had called at a takeaway, and was walking home in the direction of Prince of Wales Road when he was assaulted.
“We have not got a detailed description but he said they were in their late teens to early 30s. We have seized some CCTV and inquiries are ongoing up and down the street.”
