Police have released e-fits of two men they want to trace in connection with a brutal and unprovoked attack in Sheffield.

A 49-year-old man was assaulted outside his home in Molineaux Road, Shiregreen at around 5am on Thursday, July 23.

The victim was disturbed by noise outside his home and saw two men trying to break into his daughter’s car which was parked on the drive.

He went outside the challenge the pair and was punched in his head and received a cut to his face.

The two men ran off and the victim collapsed before being take to hospital.

PC David Devey said: “This was a brutal and unprovoked attack and we hope that with the help of the public we can identify the offenders involved.”

The first man is white, aged between 17 and 20, around 5ft 11ins, of slim build with a dark coloured star tattoo below his right eye.

The second is white, between 17 and 20, around 5ft 8ins, of medium build wearing dark clothing. He has been seen in the Sheffield Lane Top area.
