CANNABIS plants worth £15,000 were seized by police in a series of raids across Barnsley.

Officers swooped on homes on Ingsfield Lane and Dearne Road in Bolton-upon-Dearne and George Street and Deightonby Street, Thurnscoe.

In the Ingsfield Lane property officers found seven cannabis plants and 117 small cannabis seedlings worth more than £2,000.

A total of 20 cannabis plants worth £6,000 were found in the George Street drug den.

In the third raid, on Dearne Road, another 20 plants, also worth £6,000 were found.

And in the last raid, on Deightonby Street, cannabis worth £600, amphetamines worth £80 and a substantial amount of cash were discovered.

One man in his 20s and two men in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and were bailed pending further inquiries.

A local man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis and amphetamine with intent to supply. He was bailed by police until May.
