Detectives in Sheffield have quashed rumours about sex attacks on a Sheffield estate.

Officers investigating an attack on a 28-year-old woman last week have denied rumours in Batemoor that there has been more than one incident.

Police were called in to investigate an attack on Thursday when a woman was grabbed from behind and pushed to the ground as she was about to enter a property on Batemoor Road.

Detectives said the incident was ‘sexually motivated’ and the attacker ran off.

Residents in the area claimed there had been other similar incidents but detectives said there are no records.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “We have enquired with officers and we are not aware of any further reports of incidents.”
