POLICE in Chesterfield are trying to trace a woman to help them investigate offences alleged to have happened in the early 1970s.
The woman officers want to talk to was in her late teens or early 20s at the time and helped to look after a horse at some makeshift stables near Chesterfield.
The stables formed part of a caravan site and the chestnut and white Shire mare belonged to a woman from the travelling community.
Police believe the young woman was paid for the help she gave with the horse and sometimes stayed there overnight.
DC Celia Sanderson, who is investigating allegations of assault, said: “If this woman recognises herself from the description we’ve given I’d be very grateful if she would contact me.
“I’m trying to find evidence to support the claims that have been made and I think this woman could have important information that would help me.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
Call DC Sanderson on 0345 1233333 or information can be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
