Police have named officially a 58-year-old South Yorkshire woman whose death is being treated as murder.
Christine Valerie Walker’s body was found in her home in Gladstone Road, Maltby, Rotherham, after officers were called in the early hours of Monday.
A man, aged 60, was arrested on suspicion of murder and later released on bail pending further police inquiries.
A post mortem examination on Mrs Walker’s body proved inconclusive on Monday.
More tests are to be carried out to try to determine the exact cause of death.
Crime scene investigation vans were parked on the quiet cul-de-sac on Monday while forensic experts in white suits examined Mrs Walker’s immaculate bungalow.
Detectives investigating the death also carried out house-to-house inquiries in the area.
Neighbours said they had seen Mrs Walker’s husband Alan trimming up their home for Christmas the day before her body was found.
He hung icicle lights from the eaves of the bungalow and decorated a tree on the front lawn with bulbs.
Neighbours spoke of their shock and sadness at Mrs Walker’s death.
It is understood the grandmother had been ill for some time.
