A WOMAN murdered in Barnsley has been named by police.

Chantelle Barnsdale-Quean, aged 35, was found dead on Monday afternoon in a house in Upperwood Road, Darfield.

Officers called to the scene arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of murder but he was unable to be quizzed until yesterday because he needed hospital treatment for stab wounds.

Medics discharged the suspect yesterday and detectives took him to a police station for questioning.

Chantelle moved into Upperwood Road around three months ago with her partner and two young girls.

Officers sealed the property off after Chantelle’s body was discovered, while forensic experts searched the house for forensic evidence to help police establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
