Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace over the theft of fuel from a filling station in Barnsley.

Officers were called in after an employee suspicious of a man filling up at the Shell garage on Sheffield Road, Hoyland Common, approached him and asked if he would be paying by cash or card.

A second man, who had been in the passenger seat, crossed into the driver’s side and reversed the van - leaving the first man to jump inside.

The garage worked ended up trapped between the van and the fuel pump before the thieves drove off in the direction of Thorpe Hesley and Chapeltown.

Anyone with information about the incident, at 9.30pm on Monday, August 18 should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
