Police hunt conmen who stole Derbyshire pensioner’s safe

Police are hunting two men who stole a large amount of cash from a Derbyshire pensioner after conning their way into his house.

The called at the 85-year-old’s house in New Road, Apperknowle near Dronfield, asking of they could check his water supply.

A short time after their visit the OAP realised that his safe, which contained a large amount of cash, had been stolen.

One of the offenders was white, around 40 years old, 5ft 4ins tall, of average build and was wearing a grey cap.

The other was around 18, about 5ft 5ins tall, slim and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone who saw the men at around 8.15pm on Tuesday, June 9 should call Derbyshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference 24268/15.
