Police give students chance to air worries

police officers are going into the classroom at Chesterfield College to make it easier for students to raise issues of concern.

Officers from the Dunston, Moor and St Helen’s Safer Neighbourhood Team will be setting up a mobile police station on the college car park once a week.

The first one will be next Thursday.

PCSO Adele Chapman-Jones, who will be running the surgeries, said: “There are a number of issues teenagers may want to speak to police about but wouldn’t feel comfortable coming into a police station or calling us about.

“This way we are conveniently located for them to speak to us about anything, including bullying, substance misuse, personal safety and crime.”
