Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Sheffield man who was shot dead last weekend.

Jordan Thomas, aged 22, died on Sunday night after he was shot just before 10.15pm while travelling in a silver Ford Mondeo on Derek Dooley Way in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police arrested two men on Christmas Day in connection with the killing.

A force spokeswoman said: “Both men, aged 25 and 32-years-old, were arrested in Sheffield on suspicion of murder.

“They are currently in police custody being questioned by officers.”

Mr Thomas, from Waterthorpe, was with another man, aged 28, who was injured in the attack and is still recovering in hospital.

Mr Thomas’ family have appealed for anyone with information to come forward and help the police.

They said the attack was an ‘act of cowardice’.

They described Mr Thomas as being ‘full of life’, with a ‘cheeky grin and quick wit’.

A post mortem examination found that he died of gunshot injuries.

Detectives are trying to find a red Mitsubishi Shogun car seen in the area of Derek Dooley Way around the time of the attack.

Officers have said they believe that the attack was a targeted incident.

Mr Thomas was shot on Derek Dooley Way near the Capita building. The car was then driven a short distance along the Parkway before police were called.

Police are continuing to investigate and are still appealing for witnesses.
