Two dogs were apparently snatched from a Sheffield home –leaving their owner heartbroken.
Jonathan Foster, aged 18, believes the dogs – one a Saluki cross greyhound and the other a whippet greyhound cross – may have been stolen to order.
He said a neighbour spotted a silver Mercedes pulling up outside his house on Newlands Drive, Intake, Sheffield, around the time his beloved dogs went missing.
Jonathan had only left the house a few moments before when his grandmother, who he lives with, realised the dogs had gone.
She heard the alarm sounding at the back door, signalling that somebody had entered the house.
But when she went to investigate who had come inside she discovered the dogs had vanished.
Jonathan, who has had both dogs since they were puppies, said he was gutted they had been taken.
He said the Saluki cross greyhound has a distinctive half moon shaped scar on his side.
Both of the animals are chipped.
“I had not long left the house when the dogs were taken, it was just after I had left when my nan heard the alarm on the back door going off,” he said.
“She said she thought it was me coming back in but when she went to look she found that the dogs had gone.
“We think that they were stolen to order because nothing else was taken by whoever came into the house, just the dogs.
“A neighbour saw a silver Mercedes outside the house at the same time, so I am assuming that was the car used to take them away.
“The police came out and are investigating and I just hope I get the dogs back because I have had them since they were young.
“One is 12 months old and the other eight months.”
