NEWS IN BRIEF: Shed damaged in garden arson

TREES, fences and a shed went up in flames after an arson attack on May Tree Croft, Waterthorpe, Sheffield. A garden fire on Eastwood Mount, Clifton, Rotherham, spread with flames setting an outbuilding and gutters alight. Firefighters were called at 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Shutter doors went up in flames in an arson attack outside an empty property on Town Street, Canklow, Rotherham, at 11pm on Tuesday.

A car which developed an engine fault went up in flames on Middle Lane, Clifton, Rotherham.

Lorry stolen

A BLEACHED blonde woman and a man in shorts are being hunted by police after a white flatbed lorry carrying a crane and a tonne of sand was stolen from a firm on Highfield Lane in Chesterfield between 12.40am and 12.55am on Wednesday.

Collection time

HOUSEHOLDS in Barnsley are being asked to put out their rubbish and recycling bins as usual over the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee bank holiday period, with collections running to usual schedule.

Cannabis found

A MAN aged 29 was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis after police found four plants found growing in a property on Hough Lane, Wombwell, Barnsley, at 11.15am on Tuesday.

Headlights taken

HEADLIGHTS were stolen from a Land Rover on Westwick Road, Greenhill, Sheffield and wheeltrims were stolen from a car on Gervase Avenue, Lowedges, Sheffield.
