A BRIEFCASE containing a man’s birth certificate, nationalisation certificate and the title deeds to his house was stolen during a burglary.

The case and a laptop were stolen from Aughton Drove, Woodthorpe, Sheffield. Anyone with information about the break-in between 7pm and 11pm on March 24 should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident K27978/12.

A WOODEN barn next to a cottage on Bland Lane, Wadsley, Sheffield, was destroyed in a blaze, and a gas cylinder on a lorry parked on Bramcote Avenue, Athersley North, Barnsley, had to be cooled down by firefighters to prevent an explosion. Both fires were on Sunday night, and both were started by arsonists.

FIREFIGHTERS spent three hours at a property on Oldfield Road, Stannington, Sheffield, after the loft space went up in flames accidentally at 2.45pm on Sunday. Three fire engines attended a house on Masters Road, Lane Top, after a cooker caught fire on Sunday afternoon. Nobody was injured.

A VAN driver and his passenger were taken to hospital after their vehicle clipped a pavement and flipped over. The van was travelling along Brightside Lane, Brightside, at 4.45pm on Saturday when the accident happened.
