POLICE in Brimington and Tapton want residents concerned about speeding traffic to help them catch motorists breaking the law.
Officers want residents to volunteer to join a Community Speed Watch scheme, where they would join police on the streets for speed check operations.
Residents will be issued with radar guns to check speeds and volunteers will take note of the registration numbers of vehicles driving too fast.
A letter will be sent to motorists notifying them they were clocked breaking the speed limit and urging them to slow down.
PCSO Leanne Bradbury, of the Brimington safer neighbourhood policing team, said: “We have set up Community Speed Watch in response to community concerns about road safety and speeding.”
