New look for Derbyshire police officers

The new uniform to be worn by Police Community Support Officers in Derbyshire from 2013

The new uniform to be worn by Police Community Support Officers in Derbyshire from 2013

POLICE officers are sporting a new look after their uniforms were updated in Derbyshire.

New shirts have been being introduced, said to be more practical for today’s policing needs.

Various styles and materials were tested by police before the new uniform was decided upon.

The new shirt will be worn by all operational police officers and uniformed police staff.

Police officers will wear black shirts, and staff, including police community support officers, will wear blue.

A spokeswoman said: “The introduction of the shirts will save the force around £3,000 a year when compared with current costs.”
