Crime:Latest news.

Crime:Latest news.

The woman’s body was found when police were called to Upperwood Road, Darfield, near Barnsley, on Monday afternoon.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said a 35-year-old woman had been found dead and a 42-year-old man had sustained stab injuries and was taken to hospital.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder and is still in hospital in a stable condition.

Neighbour, John Lacey, said he saw police arrive at the house and bring the man out in a wheelchair and put him into an ambulance.

The 83-year-old said his great grandaughters had played with the couple’s daughters, but the family had only moved into the street a couple of months ago.

Another neighbour Joanne Ashford, said: “You don’t expect these things to happen right on your doorstep.”

A post mortem was due to take place this afternoon.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 825 of Monday, 4 March.
