GRIEVING relatives of a woman murdered by a South Yorkshire teacher have spoken of their heartache.

Andrew Lindo, aged 29, who worked at the Take 2 Theatre School in Birdwell, Barnsley, battered, strangled and stabbed Marie Stewart, 30, before hiding her body in a suitcase in the garage of the home they shared in Holmfirth.

The killer has been jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 22 years after being found guilty of murdering the mother-of-two.

Marie’s devastated father Robert said: “He has lied, misled, abused, cheated and stolen from us on a monstrous scale.

“It is difficult to imagine a more gut-wrenching experience than to be told your daughter’s body had been found in the garage of their family home.

“This was compounded by the fact that Andrew Lindo, her so called ‘partner’, had first killed her in a most violent manner and then allowed her body to remain undiscovered for over seven weeks while he continued within his own fantasy world.

“It is inconceivable this man could tell so many lies and cause untold damage to so many people.

“It saddens me enormously that one day very soon his children will have to know exactly what he did to their mother and that we are left to pick up the consequences of his actions.”

At Bradford Crown Court it emerged Lindo led a double life and invited women back to his house. He took one on the night he killed Marie.

He conned friends and relatives into believing that Marie had left him.
