A MAN stabbed to death in a Sheffield city centre party venue was due to go on trial this year – accused of being a drug dealer.

Joshua Green, of Manor Park Centre, Manor Park, was killed at the Stars and Mayfair Suite, Queens Road, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

A police probe into the 27-year-old’s murder is under way and two men, aged 19 and 22, have been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

The Star has now discovered Joshua, a father-of-two, was known to South Yorkshire Police.

He had been arrested and charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply and was due to go on trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

At the court this week, the case was dropped after Louise Gallagher, prosecuting, revealed he had died.

South Yorkshire Police are considering his alleged involvement in drug dealing as a possible motive for the attack.

Det Supt Andy Thompson said: “We are aware of his criminal background.”
