A murder probe has been launched - after a man who spent a year in hospital following an attack in Sheffield city centre died.
The 45-year-old, who has not yet been named by police, was seriously injured in an attack outside Lloyds in Division Street on Sunday, November 11 last year.
He spent a year in hospital and died yesterday.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said:” A 45-year-old man who was critically injured following an altercation in Sheffield over a year ago has died this weekend in hospital.
“The man has been in hospital since the incident, which happened on Sunday, November 11, 2012, outside Lloyds bar in Division Street.
“He sadly passed away yesterday.
“A post mortem is being carried out this afternoon. A murder investigation has now been launched by South Yorkshire Police.”
