NEIGHBOURS have spoken off their shock after a woman was found dead at her home in Sheffield.

The 57-year-old was discovered at a property on Lister Road, Walkley, at about 7.20am today.

South Yorkshire Police said a murder investigation had been launched.

The road remained cordoned off by police this morning, while a white police forensic tent was erected at the rear of one house.

Police said a 32-year-old Sheffield man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remained in police custody this afternoon assisting with the investigation.

Wilfred Frost, who lived close to the scene, said: “The first thing I knew was this morning, when police turned up next door. I’ve never seen anything like that before.”

Pat Scholey, who lives behind Lister Road, could see the tent from her doorstep.

She said: “I am very shocked. We’ve lived here for nearly 18 years and nothing like this has ever happened.

“This is a really quiet area.”
