Mum-to-be loses glass attack appeal

Have your say

A mum-of-two who left a pedestrian with horrific eye injuries after attacking him with a wine glass was lucky to escape with a 12-month sentence, judges have ruled.

Regan Annalise Round-Hare, aged 22, of Avenue Road, Rotherham, was jailed by a judge at Sheffield Crown Court in September after she admitted unlawfully wounding Michael Leasley, who suffered long-term damage to his left eye.

Round-Hare, who is pregnant with her third child, lashed out at Mr Leasley as she sat in the passenger seat of a car being driven by a friend in Mexborough in May.

She tried to get her jail term reduced, but judges at the Court of Appeal said her sentence was not excessive because it was a serious injury and she showed no remorse.
