Motorists are being urged to be on their guard following a spate of fuel thefts in Chesterfield.
Diesel was stolen from a lorry and a tractor parked in the yard of a business on Newbridge Lane, Old Whittington, at around 8.10pm on Sunday.
And around 70 gallons of fuel was taken from two cranes parked in a compound off Sheepbridge Lane, sometime between Saturday, December 28, and Sunday.
A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “People are advised to park in a secure garage or driveway where possible, or in a busy well-lit area, and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
“Always try to park in areas monitored by CCTV. Try to avoid parking up vehicles with full fuel tanks overnight. Consider installing a security device which is fitted to the filler cap.”
