A man has been questioned by police over a collision involving a cyclist in Sheffield.

The man was interviewed on a voluntary basis following an incident on Crookes Valley Road, at its junction with Mushroom Lane, Crookesmoor, on Friday, March 6.

Taron Stead, aged 17, from Walkley, told police the motorist involved initially stopped but then drove off.

He said a woman in the car told him they had children in the back who were upset and she did not want them to be late for school.

Police officers investigating the collision checked CCTV footage and issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A man believed to be the driver of the vehicle has been interviewed on a voluntary basis and enquiries are ongoing.”
