A FORMER Ministry of Defence officer is now in charge of neighbourhood policing in north Chesterfield.

Sergeant David Nash is responsible for the Safer Neighbourhood teams in Dunston, Moor and St Helen’s, and Newbold and Brockwell.

He began his career as a police officer with the Ministry Of Defence in London in 1991 and transferred to Derbyshire Constabulary in 1995, where he was promoted to the role of sergeant in 2005.

Sgt Nash said: “I am really interested to find out about residents’ concerns and taking a pro-active approach to finding solutions to them.

“The key priorities my team and I will be targeting are anti-social behaviour, drug related issues and road safety concerns near the new football ground.

“The teams are already doing a great job and work well with partner agencies so I just want to continue that and build on it.”

Sgt Nash has taken over from Sgt Les Rawson, who now manages Safer Neighbourhood teams in Staveley.
