The Sheffield-based Business Crime Reduction Centre is holding a seminar to help smaller firms across Yorkshire combat the increasing occurrence of metal theft.
According to director David Ransom, thieves stealing cabling are posing an increasing threat to Small and Medium-sized firms (SMEs) by leaving them without internet and telephone services.
“In the digital age, telecommunications are an integral part of business,” said Mr Ransom.
“Over 70 per cent of businesses use the internet and over 95 per cent are reliant on a landline phone so the loss of these services can be devastating. If this type of crime continues to grow, the situation could cause many businesses to collapse.”
The Business Crime Reduction Centre seminar takes place at the Thackray Museum in Leeds on Friday, April 13, from 8.30am to 1.30pm. Further details are available from: www.bcrc-uk.org.
