TWO men were taken to hospital after they were struck by a car which hit them as they walked along a Sheffield road in the early hours of yesterday.
The men were on Cumberland Street, at the bottom of The Moor, when a car is believed to have mounted a pavement and collided with them.
One of the men hurt in the collision suffered broken bones, including a broken leg.
The other escaped with bruising but was still taken to hospital.
Police said the car involved stopped at the scene of the collision and three men in their late 20s were arrested over the incident.
They were being held yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder and assault.
Officers said that they are trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding the collision.
A police spokesman said: “We are treating this as a road traffic collision but are keeping an open mind as to how and why it happened.
“There is lots of CCTV in that area so we are looking at that.”
Police sealed off the scene of the collision yesterday morning while enquiries were carried out at the scene and a forensic examination was carried out.
