Three men arrested during a series of dawn raids in Sheffield have been released on bail.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police carried out raids at six properties across the city on Monday - the first day of a six-week operation to crackdown on burglary and stolen goods.

More than 50 officers working in teams targeted addresses in Aughton Crescent, Danewood Avenue and Danesbrook Close, Manor, Heely Bank Road, Heeley and Kyle Close and Deerlands Avenue in Parson Cross.

One man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and two other men were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “All three men arrested have been bailed pending further enquiries.”
