A MEMORIAL service was held in Sheffield yesterday for a woman stabbed to death on a city street in daylight.

Friends and residents shocked by the brutal killing of 46-year-old Dimitrina Borisova gathered at Gleadless Valley Methodist Church to remember and pay tribute to the murder victim.

She was killed at around noon on Thursday, February 21, by a man who stabbed her repeatedly during a row in the middle of Blackstock Road.

Horrified residents who witnessed the attack raced to her aid but Ms Borisova, from Hillsborough, could not be saved.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “South Yorkshire Police had representatives from the Sheffield Command Team, local Safer Neighbourhood Team, and the investigation team attending the memorial service.

“The force has also liaised with Dimitrina’s family, who are currently out the country, and an additional member of staff attended the service on their behalf.”

Erhan Mehmedov, aged 44, of Blackstock Road, Gleadless Valley, has been charged with murder and is remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court today after his case was committed from the city’s magistrates’ court last weekend.

A woman in her 70s, who was also arrested over the incident, has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
