These two masked men armed with a crowbar and knife threatened female staff during a terrifying raid at a convenience store. The CCTV images of the ‘evil bullies’ have been released by the owner of Costcutter in Monk Bretton, Barnsley, in a bid to catch the culprits.
The pair burst into the store on Fish Dam Lane and threatened two terrified women before forcing them to had over cash from a till.
Store owner Ron Ford cut short his holiday in Spain to rush home after the robbery and is offering a £5,000 reward to catch the pair – who he today branded ‘scrotes’.
His brave staff refused to be cowed by the raiders and were back in work just hours after their ordeal.
Ron – who owns four Costcutter stores in the area and is known in the community as ‘Costcutter Ron’ – said: “It is a very serious incident.
“Two masked men ran in with a knife and crowbar and robbed one of my tills.
“I was in Benidorm when it happened, but flew back as soon as I heard.
“I have over 40 staff in my stores. They all mean more to me than any holiday.”
The robbers burst into the premises and threatened staff with weapons.
The pair then fled the scene on foot with a quantity of cash.
Ron said: “Luckily neither of my staff were hurt but they are very, very shaken up.
“But they are not going to be deterred by what happened. They were very brave and came into work the next day. It is absolutely admirable.
“I’ve never had anything like this happen in all my years in retail.
“I am offering a £5,000 as a reward to anyone who can give information to catch and prosecute these men.
“These evil bullies need to be caught as soon as possible.”
South Yorkshire Police are investigating the armed robbery at about 9.15pm on Monday, April 13, and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
