A man armed with a knife escaped with cash after holding up a shop in Sheffield.

He threatened a member of staff in Supershop News in Handsworth Road, Handsworth and demanded cash from the till during the raid at 1pm yesterday.

It is believed the robber fled down an alleyway at the side of a church near to the shop.

He was white, around 19 and is believed to have been wearing a black hooded jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms with a stripe down the side.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “No one was injured during the incident but the shop worker was understandably left shaken by the incident.

“Did you witness the incident? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around that time?”
