Police patrols are being carried out in a Sheffield park today after a boy claimed he was grabbed by a man wearing a mask.

The 11-year-old was in Millhouses Park with his mum when he was approached by the man.

He told police he and his mum had been running together but became temporarily separated when he was approached.

The man is said to have grabbed the boy’s arm before running off.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police have increased patrols in a Sheffield park following a report that an unknown man had made an approach to an 11-year-old boy.

“The incident is said to have happened near to the entrance of Millhouses Park at about 9am on Thursday 30, where the boy had been running with his mum.

“He had briefly stopped to pick something up when he was approached by the man who is described as being about 5ft 7ins tall.

“The boy was not injured and ran to his mum to raise the alarm.

“Police believe this was an isolated incident.

“Local officers will be conducting high visibility patrols in the park to provide reassurance to residents.”

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
