A man threw a punch at a motorist during a road rage incident on a South Yorkshire motorway.

Police officers investigating the incident said a red Mazda 6 MPS and a black and silver Kia Sorento were travelling along the M18 motorway from junction two at Warmsworth, towards junction one, when they were involved in a collision.

Both vehicles pulled over onto the hard shoulder and the motorists got out of their cars and were involved in an altercation, in which a punch was thrown.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The drivers got out of their vehicles and an altercation followed, where it is alleged that the driver of the Sorento, a man with dark hair, threw a punch towards the driver of the Mazda.

“It is understood that the Sorento sustained some damage as a result of the incident and officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the altercation on the hard shoulder.”

The incident occurred at around 10am on Monday, November 2.
