POLICE have taken the unusual step of releasing this horrific image of a man who was attacked in Barnsley.

The bloodied victim, who is 62, was attacked at 12.30am at the Railway Club on Midland Road, Royston, by a stranger.

South Yorkshire Police have not named the victim but said he was a local man.

A force spokeswoman said: “On Monday, June 25, at approximately 12.30am, at the Railway Club on Midland Road, Royston, a 62-year-old local man sustained serious facial injuries when an unknown person assaulted him.”

Police have since arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the incident and he is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 62 of June 25.
