A MAN has died in hospital after he was stabbed to death on a Sheffield street today.

The fatal attack happened on Crowther Place near Mount Pleasant Park, off Abbeydale Road - just yards from Sharrow Primary School.

This afternoon police confirmed they had launched a probe into the killing.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police attended the Crowther Place area at 12.45pm today, 30 September, after a report that a man had been assaulted.

“The man was treated by a paramedic at the scene before being taken by ambulance to the city’s Northern General Hospital,where he died an hour after the incident.”

Locals told The Star that a group of youths had gathered in Mount Pleasant Park prior to the incident and a man had been stabbed.

A pool of blood could clearly be seen on the pavement in Crowther Place.

No one from Sharrow Primary School was available for comment.

Police sealed off the scene as forensics officers combed the area.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to call them on 0114 2202020, quoting incident number 520 of September 30.
