A MAN suffered facial injuries after being shot on a Sheffield street.
Police were called to Manor Lane, Manor Park, late on Sunday and found the man with facial injuries.
A police spokesman said the victim had escaped serious injuries.
Officers investigating the shooting believe there were three intended targets and two attackers involved.
Manor Lane was yesterday sealed off at both ends, near to the Manor Castle public house.
Officers prevented anyone from entering the crime scene.
Door-to-door inquiries have been carried out.
South Yorkshire Police have not yet disclosed the type of firearm used in the shooting incident.
The spokesman said: “It appears there was a discharge of some kind and one person ended up with minor facial injuries.
“At this stage we are still investigating the circumstances.
“It is understood three people were the intended targets and there were two assailants.”
A woman from Manor Lane said: “The police haven’t told us anything by what we have heard is that a BB gun might have bee involved.
”The police came at around midnight on Sunday and blocked off the street at both ends stopping anyone getting through.”
Ken Curran, chairman of Manor Castle Development Trust, said he was shocked at the shooting because crime in the area had fallen in recent years.
“Over the last couple of years, crime has been falling quite dramatically and it seemed as though the police had a hold of gang problems on the Wybourn estate.
“It’s disappointing that this has happened to say the least.”
