Man in court over attempted armed robbery at post office in Sheffield

A man has appeared in court over an attempted armed robbery at a post office in Sheffield.

David Layne, aged 34, of Batworth Drive, Shirecliffe, was arrested following an attempted raid at the post office in Lees Hall Avenue, Norton, last Friday.

He appeared before Sheffield magistrates on Monday and was remanded in custody.

A 43-year-old man also arrested on suspicion of armed robbery has been bailed while inquiries continue.
