Man in coma after night out in Barnsley

A man is in an induced coma after being attacked on a night out.

The 28-year-old was attacked in Digital Bar on Wellington Street, Barnsley, in the early hours of Saturday.

Police officers investigating the incident said he was out with friends in the bar when both he and one of his friends were attacked by a man at around 1.50am.

The seriously injured man was knocked unconscious and rushed to hospital, where medics have placed him in an induced coma.

He is said to be in a stable condition.

His 30-year-old friend sustained facial injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone in the bar at the time, or who may have witnessed the assault, to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 103 of October 11.
