A MAN was caught with a pressure washer stolen during a break-in when the owner of the burgled house drove past him and spotted his equipment.
Thomas Pryce was seen with the £150 tool the day after David Nash had his home broken into on Station Road, Renishaw.
Mr Nash stopped and challenged 19-year-old Pryce about the pressure washer and was told that he had bought it off a man in a pub the previous night.
Pryce walked off, leaving the pressure washer behind, but Mr Nash had managed to take a photograph of first and contacted police.
Chesterfield magistrates heard that Pryce, of The Wynd, Renishaw, was traced by police and admitted handling stolen goods.
He told police he bought it off ‘one of the lads’ for £40 having been told it was worth £250 and not realising it was stolen.
Pryce was fined £80 with £85 costs.
