A MAN who paid someone to get rid of his household waste has been fined - after the rubbish was dumped instead.
Jetnor Gashi, aged 39, paid £70 to someone he knew to get rid of old carpets, wood and black bin bags. But instead of the rubbish being disposed of responsibly it was dumped beside a track on Pools Lane, Royston, Barnsley.
The waste was traced to Barnsley man Gashi and he admitted he had not checked where the waste would be taken. He pleaded guilty to a Duty of Care Environmental Act offence and was sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge. He was also ordered to pay the £180 costs of clearing the waste, as well as £100 towards prosecution costs.
